Writing survey The ascent of the thoughts and speculations on globalization has carried with it numerous different measurements and new boundaries were presented which significantly affected the bookkeeping rehearses just as the bookkeepers in the all inclusive working associations (Rathee Kapil, 2015). Contrasted with the conventional bookkeeping, present day examining and money related bookkeeping firms have taken on new personalities and new streets have opened up. While the conventional type of bookkeeping was worried about basic reviewing and money related administration, present day budgetary bookkeeping has grown new branches and much more perspectives have been remembered for the entire procedure, some of which are corporate administration, hostile to defilement laws, guideline gauges, responsibility in enormous worldwide organizations (MNCs) and some more (Bebbington, Unerman O'Dwyer, 2014). It prime target of global harmonization is to make the diverse money related data from various nations equivalent with the goal that organizations can productively evaluate their own exhibitions in each nation and distinguish where they have to chip away at. Writing hole In spite of the fact that the past work has been effective in recognizing the various difficulties that make an impediment while representing account in a worldwide setting, the work is for the most part centered upon the measurable translation of the information. The moral and good grounds of the issues have been scarcely discussed top to bottom, despite the fact that these issues are similarly as critical to see how the standard of conduct of the bookkeepers are influenced. This exploration would be increasingly worried about the moral parts of working a business in the worldwide setting and monetary bookkeeping under the setting of a globalized period which makes the bookkeepers face circumstances of good situation. This specific hole will be expected to be settled in the accompanying paper. Theory Invalid Hypothesis: The difficulties looked by bookkeeping in worldwide account are going to help the business associations if appropriately met with Elective theory: The difficulties looked by bookkeeping in worldwide account are not useful for associations regardless of whether they are met with the correct arrangements Examination plan Various devices and strategies can be utilized to ensure that the examination arrives at its ideal objective of recognizing the difficulties of worldwide money bookkeeping. Two unique kinds of examination techniques are given most significance from a more extensive perspective: Subjective examination: This is a lot of techniques that are non-numerical in nature and are utilized for sociology investigates. The subjective techniques that are to be utilized in the ebb and flow research have been chosen to be: Direct perception: This is the most straightforward technique for subjective exploration which includes the scientist to watch the action of the subjects without meddling all the while. The current examination would utilize the specialist to initially see how the bookkeepers of the worldwide organizations work and what are the techniques and apparatuses that are utilized just as the impediments of those strategies. The two adversary countries consented to oust 150,000 Greeks living in Turkey, and 388,000 Turks living in Greece back to their ethnic countries. Aside from in Cyprus where the populaces stayed blended. Turkey and Greece have not waged war against one another once more. After World War II 8,000,000 individuals of German ethnicity were ousted from their local networks in Poland and all through Eastern Europe, because of understandings made by the Allies at the Potsdam Conference. A huge number of Germans kicked the bucket or were slaughtered during the exchange because of the severe way wherein it was done. Because of the absence of assorted variety and clashing societies the drawn out aftereffects of the populace move have finished inward ethnic issues in Poland from that point forward. Israel removed their own pilgrims from involved land (which is as of now the new Palestinian country) so as to realize an enduring harmony between the two previous opponents. They were constrained from their homes and put in internment camps for their assurance from the wrath of the American individuals and for national security. Japanese-American internment camps like all issues including race or war, brings up the issue of whether it was legitimate and moral to drive Japanese-Americans to move homes and occupations in early WWII. It is a troublesome and questionable issue. At the point when the choice to migrate a great many Japanese-Americans was made; the activities were viewed as naturally legitimate and seen by numerous individuals as fundamental. It has been contended with regards to whether it was important to get such a significant number of blameless individuals through dissatisfaction, enduring, and loss of their property as well as their opportunity. Indeed, even before the beginning of war, because of the distinctions in their language, culture, networks, customs, and religion, the Japanese living in America were at that point distanced from quite a bit of society. This made it simpler for Americans to legitimize to themselves the requirement for an impermanent populace redistribution of the Japanese-Americans. At the point when the shelling of Pearl Harbor happened, the American individuals feared a Japanese assault and of the Japanese living close to them on the West Coast. Individuals accepted their Japanese-American neighbors were the adversary. Americans were so incensed at Japan that they turned their resentment towards Japanese-Americans in the types of fights, separation and brutal scorn. The Government, including President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, were constrained by the anxiety of the individuals, the danger of a Japanese assault, the danger of viciousness among Americans and Japanese-Americans and the absence of tim e to make a move. Lieutenant General John L. DeWitt was picked for the activity of safeguarding and ensuring the West Coast. He got probably the greatest supporter of migrating the Japanese. The FBI started researching and capturing individuals along the coast who were associated with spying for adversary nations. Japanese-Americans were by all account not the only individuals associated with spying. Italians and Germans were additionally examined and detained. DeWitt got reports of demonstrations of unfaithfulness to the U.S. what's more, damage with respect to Japanese-Americans. Adjusting to another enviroment - Essay Example Being in the prosperous center east of Asia, Kuwait is certainly not a poor nation. In urban communities there is acceptable foundation and offices and living there isn't living like wanderers in some regressive desert. In any case, when I moved to Irvine, I came to realize that in spite of the fact that I was not living like a wanderer in a desert yet at the same time it was an altogether different spot. I was utilized to that spot and it appeared to be exceptionally characteristic and agreeable and I never needed to do anything extraordinary to alter in my companions. I simply moved along normally. Classroom Layout Ideas for Back to School
Classroom Layout Ideas for Back to School Veteran teacher, Lisa, shares her ideas for how you can layout your classroom. For each layout she shares the pros and cons based on her own experience. ? by Lisa Koplik Stepping into your own classroom for the first time can be an incredibly daunting experience, but it doesnât have to be. Look at your classroom as an empty canvas, ready for you to try out 50 different arrangements over the next ten years as you tweak and perfect all of your choices to your liking. As a classroom teacher who has been teaching for five years now, every August when I reenter the room, I move everything. Last summer, I moved my entire library across the room. Looking at your classroom with fresh eyes after the summer is an amazing way to gain new insight and ideas, but if you are struggling to come up with a good layout, here are some ideas. Student Desk Clusters I am the biggest proponent of having desk groups rather than rows. Kids need the ability to converse with one another about math, reading, writing, and so on. It always works out best when there are an even number of students so that everybody has a desk partner, but desk groups still work with odd numbers. In a classroom of 24 kids, I have always created four groups of six chairs due to space (rather than having more groups with fewer kids in each group). The ideal number of kids at a desk group, in my opinion, is four. Four kids leads to multiple different partnership opportunities as well good group discussion potential. Pros: Kids have the ability to talk in discussion groups and have easy access to a variety of partners. Cons: It can be hard if you have an odd number because one kid does not have a desk partner. Having kids right next to one another can make test taking tricky. Library I still have not yet found the best configuration for my classroom library, but I do enjoy when the library takes up one particular space in the classroom rather than having bookshelves all over the place. I have heard pros and cons of both layouts-- one section of the room being the library versus the library is âeverywhere,â and here they are: Specific Section of the Room Pros: The kids know that when asked to go to the classroom library to find a book, they will always be going to the same place. When the library is all in one place, it has a more homey feel (in my opinion). It feels like a special place in the classroom because it was worth designating as its own area. Cons: Having a separate space library can sometimes make it feel like books are not as important, because they are relegated to one chunk of the classroom. Sometimes the library space can be small and it can be difficult for lots of kids to look for books at once. âEverywhereâ Library Pros: Having a library of bookshelves all over the classroom lets kids know that books are important and all around us. It is much easier for kids to book shop when there is more space for them to walk around. Cons: Can feel less organized and less homey and curated when bookshelves are all over the room. Teacher Desk For the first five years of teaching, my desk was smack in the middle of the room off to one side against the wall, facing the whiteboard, just like a student desk. I enjoyed this configuration because I felt like I was in the middle of the action, rather than hidden away in a corner or in the back of the room. This past June, I decided that for next year, Iâd try out having my desk in the back corner because that works for so many teachers, and I am excited to see how the classroom feels with this change. In the middle of the room Pros: Easy to engage with all kids. Right in the middle of the action. Easy access for kids to come up to me needing help or to talk. Cons: Cannot see the entire room. If you're working on something that the kids shouldnât see (parent emails, report cards, etc.), it's very difficult to configure the computer so that kids coming up behind the desk won't see. Blocks some of the space that could be used for student desks, the library, side desks, round tables, and so on. In the back corner Pros: You can survey the entire classroom. Placing the desk out of the way means you're less likely to sit down and step away from the kids who need help. It's easy to do any work needed without kids seeing your computer screen. Cons: You're away from the action. May make kids feel like you're far away emotionally. More likely to get messy since it's out of the way (and as someone who already has a messy desk even in the middle of the room, we will seeâ¦). In the front Pros: You can survey the entire classroom. Easy for kids to access. Cons: It can feel authoritarian. Very traditional, reminds me of classrooms in the movies or classrooms in middle school and beyond. Aside from kids' desks, the teacher desk, and the library, you should definitely have at least a couple of âside desksâ for kids to work at if they need space, have a behavior plan, need a break, and so on. These side desks in my classroom are identical to the kidsâ desks, but are located strategically around the classroom, totally alone. Also, my classroom has a round table for student work as well as a horseshoe table, which is an amazing table to facilitate small groups and easy discussion. Obviously an elementary school classroom will also have a rug, which should be located in a space where all kids can fit on or near it and can all see the board! Designing the most efficient classroom looks different for everybody, and there is zero shame if it takes ten or twenty or even more years to perfect. You may want to also consider incorporating flexible seating in your room. When we provide students with opportunities for choice in terms of where they sit and in what kind of seat, we can help them learn the conditions that they learn best in. As you set-up your classroom, don't forget to ask yourself, does this bring me joy? This question helps you minimize clutter and design a classroom that you feel happy to teach in every day. What are your favorite classroom layouts? Share with us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Lisa Koplik is a fourth-grade teacher at the Greenwood School in Wakefield, Massachusetts. She loves teaching math, reading intense read-aloud books that promote complaints when she has to stop reading, and figuring out educational games to play with her students. In a department store, managers will use inv entory methods for the purposes of improving demand forecast, or changing them to back orders ((Soroor, Tarokh, and Shemshadi 638). There are business organizations that seek to make back orders out of their forecasts. Many firms overlook forecasts so as to be able to predict demand, and make plans regarding when to start production processes. Example of a Department Store. In the clothing industry, like other manufacturing industries, predictive analytics can affect operational risk. In the absence of a dependable guide in regards to the products to be purchased, it is likely that there will be a considerable stockpile of raw materials. Predictive analytics make it possible for any existing capacities to be maximized (Chen and Xiao 227). Business organizations can effect needed changes in the process of carrying out production modeling. In clothing department stores, in particular, experience has shown that the flow of products tends to be seasonal. In such circumstances, the or ganization in question can benefit from the storage of operational information (Zhang, Fu, Hongyi, and Xu 69). Moreover, there could be a risk in the way knowledge is extracted from corporate logs for the purpose of directing continuous operations improvement. The department in question utilized the time series model for its demand forecast. This is based on the non-linear trend which is representative of shrinkage or growth over a selected period of time. The time series model usually comprises of a noise component, as well as a trend component. Basically, the extent and nature of the trend in question could be obscured at times. In such instances, there are particular time series processes that are generated to explicitly duplicate the trend activity that is represented in demand data. Although the data in the time series model tends to demonstrate random fluctuations, it may also portray gradual movements or shifts to relatively lower or higher values over an extended period. I f a time series model demonstrates this kind of behavior, it could be said that a trend pattern exists (Bannerman 2131). This trend pattern is the result of the existence of factors like changing demographic characteristics, population decreases and increases, and the development of technological gains that affect the market. In the clothing industry, seasonality is used to describe the fluctuations of products during periods of high and low demand. Seasonality creates a pattern that produces marked differences in demand for consumer goods. It is normal for the stock keeping units level to fluctuate between 35% and 40% in different seasons. For instance, one of the periods o...

Beowulf vs. Gilgamesh as Epic Heroes Essay - 1025 Words
Clack! Bang! Swish! Auuuuugh! This is the sound of clanging armor, flying spears, and slicing swords. The sound of men howling in agony as their limbs are severed from a blood thirsty blow of the enemies sword can be heard from the four corners of the earth. This can only be described as the sound of great battle. Battle was a very important part of a manââ¬â¢s life back during the seventh and eighth centuries. Every battle has a man who stands out at the forefront and shines above the rest. During these two time periods there stood two great men: Gilgamesh, the selfish, lustful king, and Beowulf the proud and boastful warrior. These two men, both powerful and well-respected, embody the true essence of what it means to be an epic hero.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦An epic hero can also be a warrior of some sort who performs extraordinary tasks that most find difficult. This hero is strong, smart, and brave. Gilgamesh, although he two thirds god and one third man, has a horrible p roblem with greed. He is the greatest of all men, and both his virtues and his flaws overshadow one another. He is the most powerful of warriors and the most driven of all builders. Enkidu, who is perfectly matched to Gilgamesh, shows up and acts as his counterpart. He exhausts his subjects with ceaseless battle, forced labor, and arbitrary exercises of power. Shaped by the god Shamash to be very beautiful to look upon, Gilgamesh selfishly indulges himself, raping whatever woman he desires. It did not matter to him whether or not she was the wife of one of his warriors or a bride on her wedding night. The wild man Enkiduââ¬â¢s friendship ultimately softened Gilgamesh wicked ways, thus, making him a better man all together. When his best friend Enkidu dies, Gilgamesh is deeply saddened and is terrified by the thought of how he will die. Putting off every worldly possession that he once cherished, Gilgamesh journeys to learn the secret of eternal life. After the long, arduous trek, which included a nearly impossible test by the only man who was ever granted immortality by the gods, he finds instead the wisdom needed to strike harmony with his divine and mortal attributes. Critical Analysis of I Have Dream - 838 Words
Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream: Critical Thinking Analysis Charles Briscoe PRST 3301 16 October 2012 In Martin Luther King Jr. s seminal 1963 speech I Have a Dream, King uses a number of critical thinking processes in order to present his argument. On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, King delivered a speech that is remembered now as one of the most significant pieces of oratory in the 20th century. His call was for blacks and whites to come together, for blacks to be granted greater freedoms and for America to become a nation of equals. Not only was the speech thought-provoking and emotional, but King s points were excellently handled and deftly conveyed through his use ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In this way, King lays a groundwork that implies that, if you disagree with civil rights, you disagree with the way our nation was founded. Placing that onus on the listener is a strong motivator to get them to change their opinion. King is extremely emotive in his speech, and uses incredibly descriptive and poetic phrasing to demonstrate the eloquence of his argument. His use of words like Now and today imply a great need for immediate action regarding civil rights; the fact that he is so well-spoken is intentionally utilized in the speech to lend credence to his words. Given the stereotype at the time that blacks were unintelligent and uneducated, King s responsibility to show the capabilities of black rhetoric was great. King, as a religious man, brings spirituality into the speech itself, but not in a self-aggrandizing way; he merely states that racial justice should be done as it is according to God s will. King s use of repetition (anaphora) is one of his greatest strengths in the speech; apart from the aforementioned I have a dream, he also finishes his speech with the repetitive device to let freedom ring in various locations around the country. This particular device influences because of its catchy repetition, as well as its identifier of disparate locations that are still, undeniably America. Happiness Is A Feeling Or Feeling Of Accomplishment
What is happiness? A feeling or euphoria or a feeling of accomplishment, perhaps both? Is happiness something we can create or something that appears to us when we need it most? I feel that happiness is something that is unique to each person. What fills me with inner joy might not for others and vice versa. Happiness is subjective, but one thing I think everyone will find is that a part of their happiness is found in growing as a person. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone and maybe happiness is found there too! For me, happiness is best achieved when I am growing as a person. Working through obstacles that have come up in my path, expanding my horizons through meeting new people, or learning something new in a class. I have come to see that when I push myself out of my comfort zone (physically or emotionally), this is where I find happiness. Reaching the edge of your comfort zone can be done through many things. One example of when I have felt truly happy is during travels. This can be travels to another state or travel in other countries. When one are traveling, there is constant growth. There are different obstacles that result from each new adventure. Plans for travel can be made, but in my experience, travel never goes according to the plan and that is its beauty. In this memo I will identify common tort and risk found in the organization of Alumina, and describe different measures to manage risk. Some common torts found at Alumina are negligence, defamation/slander/libel, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and strict liability is tort liabilities uncovered. Alumina Violation Alumina is an aluminum maker base in the United States and has operation in eight countries. The aluminum maker is on Lake Dira in the state of Erehwon. Alumina is under the jurisdiction of region six under the Environmental Protection Agency. A few years ago Alumina was found in violation with the Environmental Protection Agency for environmental discharge norms in an Environmental Protection Agency compliance evaluation. The PAH levels were above prescribe limits. Alumina was order to clean up the problem in which they complied too quickly. Because of this incident Alumina has maintain a good compliance record. Recently a resident name Kelly Bates claims that Alumina continuous contamination of Lake Dira with pollutants. Bates threatens to file a suit against the company for punitive damages and recovery damages. She believes that the incident that occurred several years ago is the cause of her daughterââ¬â¢s leukemia. Tort Liability A tort is a ââ¬Å"civil wrong that is an interference with someoneââ¬â¢s person or property such that an injury resultsâ⬠(Jennings, 2006, p. 367). Torts can be categorized as intentional torts, torts of negligence, and strict liability torts. Intentional torts are those that result in a harm not accidental. Torts of negligence are accidental harms that result from a failure to act appropriately in a given situation. Strict liability torts assign absolute liability and offer very few defenses. Defamation of Character A company or a person reputation is a valuable asset. The tort of defamation of character requires that a plaintiff prove that: the defendant made an untrue statement about the plaintiff or the statement was intentionally published by a third party (Cheeseman, 2010). Written False statements are referred to as libel and verbal statement are referred to as slander. Bates made a libel statement in the newspaper about Alumina and the violation that occurred years ago. This defamation can have a negative effect on the company. Alumina can lose business with a bad reputation and once the reputation has gone sour it is hard to reclaim the good name. Freedom of Information Act A local news reporter and Kelly Bates approached the EPA to obtain environmental audit reports that documented Alumina violation of the Clean Water Act. Bates requested the documents under the Freedom of Information Act; this act was enacted in Congress in 1966 to the American public great access to the Federal Government records (Federal Communication Commission, 2010) . The Company chooses to release partial audit information from the violation from years ago. Alumina has the right to withhold informational this qualifies under the Confidential Business Information, which is available under exemption four of the Freedom of information Act. Strict liability Negligence and Strict liability Negligence, the most common tort, is explained as conduct that falls below standards of behavior established by the law for the protection others against unreasonable risk harm (Cheeseman, 2010). In this case of negligence Bates must prove that Alumina had a duty to keep the PAH levels contained. In a case Alumina breaches that duty by not staying in compliance with the EPA regulation several years ago. Bates assumes that the consumption of the water cause the harm of her daughter to have leukemia. In response Alumina chose to conduct an independent site study for new violations. The reports come back good the PAH levels were well below the standard. After releasing a partial audit report Bates has threaten to file a lawsuit against Alumina of personal injury to recover compensation and punitive damages. Alumina negligent conduct of ââ¬Å"serious violation of environmental laws five years ago is the cause of her daughter leukemia,â⬠alleged by Bates (Business Regulations Simulation, 2010). The best resolution for this situation is mediation by a neutral third party, by choosing this options Alumina can provide Bates with a confidential settlement. The settlement includes that Alumina provides Bates with reimbursement of medical expenses for her daughter treatment a lump sum for future treatments and a college fund set aside if her daughters recovers from the leukemia (Business Regulations Simulation, 2010). Although tort liability is founded on intended harm strict liability is attached even though the defendant has been reasonable. In the Article titled ââ¬Å" The American Influence on Canadian Tort Lawâ⬠author Allen M. Linden states ââ¬Å" One person may be require to compensate another for injury or damages even though the loss was neither intentionally or negligently inflicted. If Alumina had taken the case to court, the company would have been in a long litigation process costing the company thousands and even millions of dollar. The mediation process is half the cost of a court trial and there is no guarantee that the jury would agree with Alumina even though the company may have had proof that the allegation against the company was false. The jury tends to side with the victims. Preventative, Detective, and Corrective Measures In an organization it will be hard to prevent allegation against the company, but the company needs to prepare for such issues when they arise. A preventative plan should be put into place. The company should make it a priority that the employees of the company aware of the rules and regulations of the state and federal laws. The company should be aware of the competitors who have violated any government regulations and improve their process so that the company will not violate the same regulations as the competition. Health risk that may be exposes to the staff, customers, and other should be included in the document also. Conclusion Alumina has to abide by state and federal rules these laws are in place to improve environmental safety. The agency that regulates Alumina was the Environmental Protection Agency this agency enforces environmental laws. Alumina has to be aware and comply with the state and federal regulations at all-time or it can affect the business a great deal. Maintaining a positive image in the community is also important when a crisis occurs the support of the community can be a big help in determine issues. The decision mage by Alumina were wise, the company took the right approach to maintain its good name in the community and the competitive market and save cost on litigation. The wiring cannot be complete without use of the switch devices, however these devices has a total of 24 ports and therefore allow the connection of many devices to it, however the switches were used in each department where two or one switches were linked to one switch in order to accounting the number of devices in that section in the general operations there were three switches where two were used to connect the computer end devices while third one connected to the network router [2]. The sales department there was also three switches used to connect the end devices and the router connected to the router, while in the marketing department there were two switches one used to connect the computers and the other one connected the computers switch with the router, Routers. The routers are other types of devices and they are connected to the switches that form the departments subnets ,however these routers are then linked to other routers in the other department which will from the entire Local Area Network and through these routers users in the different network can communicate through E-mail or intranet connections. RJ-45 jacks pins. These are other components that are used to connect the end devices to the switches or the switches to the routers they have the male and female jack connection according to the type of the connection. Internet access points: The access point were used to do the internet connectivity to the users where each department was allocated the a internet access point to enable internet connections. Fiber optic cables. The fiber optic cables are also used to do the connection between the departments routers, this will help to offer a high speed internet access and hence better internet and intranet connectivity. The optic fiber cable was recommended to be used for the connection between the departments due to the following reasons. Great data Bandwidth The fiber optic cable will enable quick and simple transmission of data since it can carry more data than any other type of medium. Copper cables were originally designed for voice transmission and have a limited bandwidth [3]. High transmission Speeds The fiber optic cable uses the light principals to do data transmission and its transmission speed exceed the one for the cat 5 and 6 since the signals hardly get degraded during the transmission. Can transmit for longer distances. The fiber optic cables also are good since the data signals can be transmitted for very long distance without loss for even 25kms. Highly Reliable The fiber optic cable cannot be affected by variation of the climate or change in temperature and also there are no chances of having interference since it do not transmit signals electronically therefore it posses more reliability in the network. it is more Flexible in case of future expansion In case the network expansion the fiber optic cable will be easy to extend and the current network will also be included without any network failure. Cat7 Ethernet cables The cat 7 Ethernet cable is a type of cable that was used to connect the computers ,and the internet access points to the switches in the different departments which are then connected to the routers .However this type of cable was used due to the various advantages associated to it. High bandwidth. The cat 7 Ethernet cable has high speed and rate in terms of transmitting the data in various locations where it can be able to transmit at a rate of 600MHz. High shield ability. This cable also has other properties where it is bale to shield any interference which is external and thus no chance of distorting the data signals. Bulk and not easily bent. The network cable is more strong and no one can be able to bend it and thus it is safe from any physical damage . More durable. This Ethernet cable has a very long life span where it can be used for more than twenty years without any damage unless the network will be upgraded or changed. Compatibility with other devices. This network cable is also very good since the upgrade from the old version of cables do not require replacement but it needs the connection since this cable is compatible with all network cables The type of recommended local area network topology and protocol. The local area network design will require a topology that will guide on the physical layout of the local area network however, there will be also the protocol used that will be guiding on how the network components will be communicating with each other. Below are the respective topologies and protocols [4]. Physical Hybrid Topology (star topology and ring topology.) This is the psychology that will be used, this is because the network in the department level is in star topology which is made after linking the end devices to one router then all these routers are linked to the routers which are then linked to the other devices to form a ring topology as in figure below. Fiber Distributed Data Interface network protocol. In this network will however use FDDI type of network protocol where the three different departments has routers that link them then since all these routers are linked to each other in a circular manner the resulting protocol is FDDI which is represented by use of two rings and since it is appropriate for long distance it will fit this network [5]. This protocol is appropriate since there will be data transmission even after the network breakage since signals will be transmitted through the next ring which is not broken, however this network is also best due to speed of up to 100MBps because it uses the fiber optic cables [7]. Floor plans for each floor. In order to install the network there is need to have a map of the plan; this will indicate the location of the various devices in the floor of the three departments [6]. Below is the diagram of the physical plan of this network: Conclusion The organization local area network designing takes various aspects where there are three segments of the network where the second floor is the general operation department, while the second first floor is the marketing and sales department. This network is implemented by joining separate network segments for all these networks where each segment has a network router that connects to the other networks, however the major network components used for wiring and connection is the switches which links the computers in the department level ,routers that connect the network to other departments ,and RJ-45 jack pin that was used to link the devices to the switches or routers, However among the cables used were the fiber optic cable that was used to link the routers to the other departments and the cat 7 Ethernet cables that was used to link switches to the routers and then end devices to the switches. For the purpose of implementation the hybrid topology was used where the switch connected the departments in a star topology and then the routers were connected as a ring hence the topology used is the hybrid topology, however the Fibber Distributed Data Interface network protocol is the topology that was used to guide the network communication and the most important thing is it speed which is quite high. Therefore the network is very important for every organization since it assists in the process communication, internet access, E-mail services and sharing of other resources in the network in order to cut on the operation cost. To what extent is Othello presented as a tragic hero in Act 1 of Othello Essay Example
To what extent is Othello presented as a tragic hero in Act 1 of Othello Paper The famous Philosopher, Aristotle, explored what exactly is a tragic hero; he said, in his own words, A man doesnt become a hero until he can see the root of his own downfall. (1). Also, a man should have nobility from birth, as Aristotle says, yet Othello slowly climbed the ladder of hierarchy enabling him to stable that status as the Moor (Venetian Moor) yet he sets himself as a tragic hero because he isnt going to accepted into society due to his colour. Was his colour a conceit in a way, showing an anticlimax, foreshadowing the downfall of his status, making it less tragic? This is a mere criticism. Aristotles theories are intriguing, and I will be discussing these in detail later on in the essay. Another characteristic of a tragic hero is that the heros story must appeal to emotions. Clearly we are shown this in the first scene in act 1 where Shakespeare uses sibilance to characterise the main characters, Iago and Othello, in the play. The use of the word his automatically spits the word out in distaste. The word his is degrading for the moor, but the sibilance and the iambic pentameter in the sentence wears out his time, much like his masters ass emphatically forces the his out scornfully. The fact that Iagos first words were Sblood gives us a vain, vivid spitting image and the vulgar language used such as the moor debase him This is an effective use of pathos as it appeals to our emotions towards Othello; this distaste helps us with not looking at the perspective, or the distorted view, of how Iago sees things. Aristotles point about appealing to emotions was correct and this is a sign of Othello being presented as a tragic hero. Iago is an allegory for the reoccurring fatal flaw in this act the fatal flaw is merely manipulation. Even though little manipulation is shown here, it is very intense. In act 1, scene two, Iago says that Roderigo prated and spoke such scurvy persuading the moor to get angry at Roderigo, yet the dramatic irony very much lies beneath these words as we know that Iago presents a fai ade or is, in other words, a representation of Janus (two faced) because Iago says, in scene 1, that he will follow him to serve my turn on him yet he goes against Roderigo now by saying that Roderigo spoke such scurvy. This fatal flow is merely a fai ade within Iago, which merely hides corruption from within, and Iago, of course, is a figure of corruption Othello is merely a tragic hero in some sense as he fell for the wrong person in terms of fraternal (male) bonds for help. This is a major fatal flaw as it showed how male companionship collapsed the foundation and made Othello a dawn fall . The quote an old black ram is tupping your white ewe can be an extended metaphor for the predatory nature of the world. Iago says that he will wear my heart upon my sleeve for daws to peck at, I am not what I am which is a denotation in an interpretive sense that a crow is a symbol of society and society is predatory and everything is deceptive. This dramatic irony is there to show the audience the fatal flaw in Othello believing Iago. Iagos predatory nature on Othello can spark off other events such as paranoia which is shortly developed after Othello being calm for so long it isnt bearable so paranoia sneaks in. His calmness is shown through his first words of Tis better as it is, giving a very patient approach to the situation. Yet, we expect this to juxtapose highly towards the end of the play as we see Iago can do anything to corrupt psychological states of people by manipulation and even greater, maybe paranoia. One critic has criticised the statement that Othello is presented as a tragic hero because Othello is overly aware of his nobility (2). The critic, Leavis, says that Eloquence is a form of arrogance. In act 1, scene 2, Othellos first words are quite subtly yet Eloquent Tis better as it is. Can we, as readers, interpret this as some form of arrogance? In my opinion, the subtlety of the words can confine arrogance. Leavis is very clever in making this statement, and his statement can say Othello is not presented as a tragic hero. A sense of it was doomed before the start is shown in Act 1, scene 3, where Desdemona has her very first words and Othello and herself proclaim love to each other. The iambic pentameter is very significant and Shakespeare very cleverly used it to show love in the blank verse. Nearly all are blank verses (no rhyme but with an iambic pentameter) yet some, for example, what Desdemona says: The rites for which I love him are bereft me breaks the iambic pentameter. This may show corruption in love or the fact that love is a concept which can cause annihilation but this is merely done to show that Othello has brought it on himself so can be a tragic hero. The audience here, have a sense of urgency to relief themselves (catharsis another trait of a hero being a tragic hero). The repetition of fill your purse with money which Iago says to Roderigo makes it as though life is a stage and that all our strings are being pulled by the creator. This repetition is highly manipulative as it says therefore make money. Though, this manipulation isnt a flaw for Roderigo, as his status is nothing compared to Othello, yet later on in the acts, Othello is slowly driven into paranoia by the vehicle Iago is driving and causing hamartia (fatal flaw). The socio-historical context with Macbeths is important as they interlink and you can come to a conclusion about both of them. From both, Othello and Macbeth, it shows Shakespeare is interested in deception; at the start of Macbeth, the tragic hero is characterised by Iago, and at the start of Macbeth by the witches. It seems as though Shakespeare is allowing us too see different perceptions, through women (witches) and men (Iago and roderigo). Lady Macbeth is almost a mirror image of Iago in a distorted way as they both drive to manipulate; Lady Macbeth manipulated Macbeth to go kill the king. Shakespeare questions whether we should break the convention of men before women or not, as both are corrupted and delusional and both play a part in the tragedy of the tragic hero

Ethos, Logos, Pathos for Persuasion
Ethos, Logos, Pathos for Persuasion You may be surprised to learn that much of your life consists of constructing arguments. If you ever plead a case to your parents- in order to extend your curfew or to get a new gadget, for example- you are using persuasive strategies. When you discuss music with friends and agree or disagree with them about the merits of one singer compared to another, you are also using strategies for persuasion. Indeed, when you engage in these arguments with your parents and friends, you are instinctively using ancient strategies for persuasion that were identified by the Greek philosopher Aristotle a few thousand years ago. Aristotle called his ingredients for persuasion pathos, logos, and ethos. Persuasion Tactics and Homework When you write a research paper, write a speech, or participate in a debate, you also use the persuasion strategies mentioned above. You come up with an idea (a thesis) and then construct an argument to convince readers that your idea is sound. You should become familiar with pathos, logos, and ethos for two reasons: First, you need to develop your own skills at crafting a good argument so that others will take you seriously. Second, you must develop the ability to identify a really weak argument, stance, claim, or position when you see or hear it. Logos Defined Logos refers to an appeal to reason based on logic. Logical conclusions come from assumptions and decisions derived from weighing a collection of solid facts and statistics. Academic arguments (research papers) rely on logos. An example of an argument that relies on logos is the argument that smoking is harmful based on the evidence that, When burned, cigarettes create more than 7,000 chemicals. At least 69 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are toxic, according to the American Lung Association. Notice that the statement above uses specific numbers. Numbers are sound and logical. An everyday example of an appeal to logos is the argument that Lady Gaga is more popular than Justin Bieber because Gagas fan pages collected 10 million more Facebook fans than Biebers. As a researcher, your job is to find statistics and other facts to back up your claims. When you do this, you are appealing to your audience with logic or logos. Ethos Defined Trustworthiness is important in research. You must trust your sources, and your readers must trust you. The example above concerning logos contained two examples that were based on hard facts (numbers). However, one example comes from the American Lung Association. The other comes from Facebook fan pages. You should ask yourself: Which of these sources do you suppose is more credible? Anyone can start a Facebook page. Lady Gaga may have 50 different fan pages, and each page may contain duplicate fans. The fan page argument is probably not very sound (even though it seems logical). Ethos refers to the credibility of the person posing the argument or stating the facts. The facts provided by the American Lung Association are probably more persuasive than those provided by fan pages since the American Lung Association has been around for more than 100 years. At first glance, you might think that your own credibility is out of your control when it comes to posing academic arguments, but that is incorrect. Even if you write an academic paper on a topic that is outside your area of expertise, you can improve your credibility- using ethos to persuade- by coming across as a professional by citing credible sources and making your writing error-free and concise. Pathos Defined Pathos refers to appealing to a person by influencing his emotions. Pathos is involved in the strategy of convincing the audience by invoking feelings through their own imaginations. You appeal through pathos when you try to convince your parents of something. Consider this statement: Mom, there is clear evidence that cellphones save lives in emergency situations. While that statement is true, the real power lies in the emotions that you will likely invoke in your parents. What mother wouldnt envision a broken-down automobile perched by the side of a busy highway upon hearing that statement? Emotional appeals are extremely effective, but they can be tricky. There may or may not be a place for pathos in your research paper. For example, you may be writing an argumentative essay about the death penalty. Ideally, your paper should contain a logical argument. You should appeal to logos by including statics to support your view such as data that suggests that the death penalty does/does not cut down on crime (theres plenty of research both ways). Use Appeals to Emotion Sparingly You may also use pathos by interviewing someone who witnessed an execution (on the anti-death penalty side) or someone who found closure when a criminal was executed (on the pro-death penalty side). Generally, however, academic papers should employ appeals to emotions sparingly. A long paper that is purely based on emotions is not considered very professional. Even when you are writing about an emotionally charged, controversial issue like the death penalty, you cant write a paper that is all emotion and opinion. The teacher, in that circumstance, will likely assign a failing grade because you havent provided a sound (logical) argument. Source ââ¬Å"Whats In a Cigarette?â⬠à American Lung Association,

Thatcherism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Thatcherism - Essay Example Thatcherism has been rooted in the individualist views of 19th and 20th century British political parties. However from a contemporary viewpoint, Thatcherism has been famously associated with opposition to join the European Union, which according to some was aimed at eroding Britain's sovereignty. In a famous Bruges Speech, 1988 Thatcher stated, '"We have not successfully rolled back the frontiers of the state in Britain, only to see them re-imposed at a European level, with a European super state exercising a new dominance from Brussels." (Bruges Speech from BBC, 2000). This would clearly indicate the perceived threats of joining the European Union completely which in turn led to Britain emphasizing on its own border controls and heightened sovereignty. Post war effects of Thatcherism have been clearly perceived within British politics and some elements of Thatcherism such as controlling public expenditure and promoting personal achievements have also been incorporated in the policy approach of New Labour government from 1997. However unlike Thatcherism, the Blair government has put greater emphasis on social justice and has focused on promoting social inclusion of the excluded groups and classes. It is important to understand the impact of Thatcherism th... tors as British gas, British telecom and British steel along with curbing powers of the trade unions and local government, promoting individual achievements and private enterprises and also strengthening powers of the central government (BBC, 2006). The focus was to bring in higher consumerism and increase levels of private investments. Public expenditure was cut down and monitored and the local governments faced severe restrictions with rate capping and poll tax in 1989. With loss of support from unions and controversies over poll tax, Thatcher had to leave although this was followed by a period of economic recession and high unemployment and also divisions in society. As Thatcherism encouraged privatisation with gas, steel and telecommunications services, private ownership was also given to providers of health care services. This increased privatisation however led to widening of the rich poor gap and increased divisions in society. Clarke (1999) examined Thatcherism and considered the strengths and weaknesses of the political outlook highlighting the unique financial strategy and monetarist economic policy of the Conservative government. Clarke points out that even if Thatcher's economic policies were uncertain in theory and practice; they were ideologically applicable in terms of methods and objectives. Clarke highlighted the personal dimension of Thatcherism arguing that the rise and fall of Thatcherism could be reduced to definite personal attributes of Thatcher in terms of leadership and control. This however may not be completely true as Thatcher's policies on privatisation and controlling of local governments and trade unions could have bee n the main reason for the unpopularity of Thatcherism during the late 1980s. In this regard, Heath et al (2001)
